A Greatest Desire, That Is.
Do you know what my greatest
desire is? For those who’s known me for years or has been reading this blog may
have some good, typical answers.
Do you guess that it’s
becoming a famous writer?
Writing a best-seller book?
Being awarded by The Best
Scriptwriter of The Year?
Being the best blogger in
Indonesia with thousands followers and high page rank?
To tell the truth, it’s not about
fame. It’s not really about books or writing either.
It’s about photography and travelling.
These two things have nothing to
do with writing, literature, or something like that, that I do almost everyday.
I don’t really remember the day I
realised what my greatest desire is. It was the night when I watched Twilight
for like, a hundredth time. There was this scene when Bella went to a bookstore
to buy a book he ordered about Quilieutte and vampire legend. The bookstore was
really a sanctuary, at least for a dork like me. The bookstore was old and quite
small with books stored in the high shelves, almost fulfilling the walls. The
lighting was dim, a bit mellow and gloomy. I can imagine the warmth and her
quick conversation with the native America shopkeeper.
That is what I want to
experience. I want to travel all over the world with my camera, seeing great
places, taking pictures, meeting various people, exchanging stories, and having
nice conversations. I want to travel alone, from Bali to Verona. From Manhattan
tu Bhutan. From Georgetown to Japan.
To make it all perfect and
related to my current job, I’ll write a book about my long trip and what I
learned from it. The book will be completed with the photographs I take and the
stories behind it. And finally it’ll make money : )
I want to see the world.
Do you believe in dreams that
come true? I’ll make it true. I don’t think that it’s too late to realise your
own dream and pursue it.
For me? I think I’ll start saving
for a camera. An analogue camera is good. And for my own netbook so that it can
fit my little bag. And for a first plane ticket to Bali, indeed. I’ll start the
journey from there. Someday, there will be a book titled ‘A Camera To Rome’ with
my name printed on the front cover. Yes, someday.
